The Central Government, in order to remove the financial burden of the poor beneficiaries and to ensure nationwide uniformity and effective implementation of the Act, has decided to provide food grains free of cost to NFSA beneficiaries, i.e. AAY households and PHH beneficiaries, for a period of one year beginning from 1st January 2023 under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY)
The central government of India is introducing an amount of publicity for the development of the people. However, they are providing financial assistance in addition to many employment opportunities. As part of this, Prime Minister Garib Kalyan has also launched the Yojana scheme. The scheme provides various food grains and gas cylinders to the poor, the divisions and other workers.
Prior to that, under the NFSA, subsidized food grains were distributed at Rs 3 per kg for rice, Rs 2 per kg for wheat and at Rs 1 per kg for coarse grains to beneficiaries. The period for distribution of free-of-cost food grains under the PMGKAY has been extended by five years w.e.f. 1st January 2024.

Eligibility Details:
The family income of the Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Yojana should be less than 15000 per month. In addition, landless farm laborers, artists from rural areas and workers living as laborers are eligible for this scheme. Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana can also apply for widows, divisions or families over 60 years.
Application Method:
Earlier, the applicants for the Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Yojana Scheme should open the Jan Dhan account at the Reserve Bank recognized Authorized Bank. Once this process is completed, the application for Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana should be completed.
Along with the application form, documents such as an Aadhaar card, income certificate and passport-size photo should be provided. Once the screening process is completed, the information will be provided to those who are eligible for the scheme.
Those who are eligible for this scheme will be provided free food grains. Financial assistance to senior citizens, widows and divisions. The poor are also provided with job opportunities.
